Golf Tip: How To Play Bunker Shots

One of the keys to executing great bunker shots is to set up in such a way that it encourages us to use the loft and the bounce of the golf clubs.

Here’s a great drill to help you out before your next round of golf:

  1. So number one, in the address position, I want you to stand wide and low – the wider you stand, with more flex, the more it is going to help you get this golf club working more down through the sand.
  2. Once you grab that lead hand, place it on your front leg and slide it all the way down to that kneecap this is going to help place some more weight on this front side and encourage the golf club to sit more towards the centre of your body.
  3. Finally, when playing the shot with soft arms, try to feel a folding in the backswing a throwing in the downswing so the head and the handle line up at impact all the way to a folding in the follow-through.
