Golf: Why You Shouldn’t Keep Your Head Down When Chipping
Dec 19, 2021
Keeping your head down is actually not encouraging you to hit good shots.
Here is a great little drill, called a push drill, you can do to work on this:
- Place the club behind the golf ball and then through the shot and you’re going to feel that the belly button and the handle of the golf club move at the same rate, to a point where they finish over our front foot.
- If you now connect a backswing to this pushing motion and push the club up towards the target, you can make a little bit of a backswing that will give you some very reasonable pitch shots.
When you’re practising a couple of little push drills up towards the target feeling that the belly button and the handle of the golf club are moving then you step into the ball, create a little backswing connect it to that same push drill and I’m sure you’ll be hitting some much better shots in no time.
