How To Stop Chunking Pitch Shots
Nov 27, 2021
Let’s talk about pitching! This is addressed specifically to those of you who tend to get the golf club digging into the ground at impact. If this sounds like you, you need to learn how to stop chunking pitch shots!
There is a good chance that you’re using the leading edge of the club and the toe is turning too much down towards the ground as it approaches the ball. This in turn leads to some fat shots.
Below is a great drill to help you stop chunking pitch shots:
- In the address position, imagine there’s a mirror sitting on the grooves of the golf club and you can see yourself in the reflection of that mirror.
- Next, as you make your backswing, the grooves in the club face need to be pointing straight back at you.
- Maintain this all the way to the follow-through.
- By doing this, you’re going to ensure that you use the bounce of the golf club and that the clubface stays open for the entirety of the swing.
