Train Your Trail Arm To Move Like A Pro

In this article, you will learn about the elbow trail and how it should effectively work in the golf swing.  In the address position, you should have a slight amount of flex.

Follow these steps to train your trail arm:

  1. Swing to the top as you normally would, and hold the position. Then, take your trail hand (right hand for right-handers and left hand for left handers) off the club and grip your lead wrist from underneath.

  1. Move slowly and smoothly into your downswing. As you do this, use your trail hand to pull the lead arm downwards, while avoiding the tendency to have it move out towards the ball.

  1. You should feel your upper arm brush down the front of your shirt. As a reference, your lead arm should point out across the line as it reaches parallel with the ground.
